Situational Awareness and Physical Security for Freelance Journalists
Journalists’ work has always meant a degree of personal risk. But in an environment of escalating hostility toward the media, understanding of threat situations and preparedness are essential.
The NWU’s Freelance Solidarity Project / Digital Media Division and the Committee to Protect Journalists are joined by Aegis Safety Alliance for a final session of three in the series “Protecting Journalists, Protecting Journalism” on legal, digital, and physical safety for freelance and independent journalists.
The third session will address journalistic best practices in situational attunement, physical security, and detention-scenario readiness. Attendees will learn practical methods for preparing for and responding to physical threat.
