Digital Safety and Online Harassment Protection for Freelance Journalists

Journalists in the U.S. face a rise in extremism and anti-media hostility. Knowing how to protect ourselves and our sources against an array of digital security threats has never been more important.

The NWU’s Freelance Solidarity Project / Digital Media Division and the Committee to Protect Journalists are joined by Aegis Safety Alliance for this second session of three in the series “Protecting Journalists, Protecting Journalism” on legal, digital, and physical safety for independent journalists.

In this session, the training focus will be digital-safety best practices for freelance and independent journalists and approaches to protection against online harassment. Attendees will come away with practical tools to assess digital risk, secure their accounts, protect online data, and securely communicate.
